The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, inaugurated the operational launch of the Safety Driving Centre (SDC) at the Traffic Directorate of the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalsel). During his visit, Irjen Agus greeted the online motorcycle taxi (ojol) communities in South Kalimantan to strengthen collaboration in maintaining public security and order (kamtibmas), in line with directives from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

In his speech following the SDC inauguration, Irjen Agus began by expressing appreciation to the South Kalimantan Police personnel for their successful security measures during Operation Ketupat 2026. The South Kalimantan Police recorded outstanding performance by significantly reducing traffic accident fatality rates, which will have a substantial impact on the national recapitulation achievements.

“I convey my appreciation to the South Kalimantan Regional Police. Especially during Operation Ketupat, South Kalimantan was quite successful,” said Irjen Agus to reporters on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Accompanying him were South Kalimantan Police Chief Irjen Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan, Korlantas Polri’s Deputy for Security Brigadier General Prianto, and South Kalimantan Police Traffic Director Kombes Fahri Siregar.

“So, it was possible to reduce fatalities of deaths by up to 65 percent. This will certainly influence the national traffic accident recapitulation. This is an indicator that Operation Ketupat was carried out successfully,” he continued.

In addition, Irjen Agus’s presence in South Kalimantan also served to engage with various ojol communities.

“And secondly, with the Police Chief, the Traffic Director, and from Korlantas as well, there is an additional activity. This is a programme from the National Police Chief, Polri Menyapa, engaging with ojol, motorcycle taxis, Gojek, and other ojol communities,” he added.

Irjen Agus noted that the collaboration between the police and ojol communities such as Gojek and Maxim within the jurisdiction of the South Kalimantan Regional Police is already very solid. He even appreciated the South Kalimantan Police Chief’s plans to provide assistance and routine engagement agendas with ojol communities in the future.

“I see it myself, I communicate directly that our colleagues from Gojek, Ojol, Maxim, have integrated with police members. We hope all of this is for the sake of upholding public security and order. So, how we can manage kamtibmas,” he explained.

Irjen Agus emphasised the importance of the role of ojol drivers in maintaining Security, Safety, Order, and Smooth Traffic Flow (Kamseltibcarlantas). He hopes that the closeness between police and ojol communities can enhance a culture of legal compliance on the roads.

“Motorcycle taxis and Gojek, ojol, should become pioneers of traffic safety. They comply with traffic rules, and of course, what we hope for is no more traffic accidents because everyone is already on friendly terms with the police,” stressed the Kakorlantas.
