National Traffic Chief and Transport Minister Check JMTC as Ketupat Operation Begins with Smooth Traffic Conditions
Indonesia’s National Traffic Chief (Kakorlantas) Irjen Agus Suryonugroho visited the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi, to assess traffic conditions during the initial phase of Operation Ketupat 2026. The visit was conducted jointly with Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi.
Following on-site monitoring, Irjen Agus reported that traffic flow remained manageable, though traffic volumes had increased. He explained that Operation Ketupat encompasses more than traffic monitoring; it also focuses on public security and order maintenance.
“Today’s monitoring shows that traffic flow remains fairly controlled. There has been an increase, but Operation Ketupat, beyond monitoring traffic, also involves monitoring public security and order,” stated Irjen Agus at JMTC on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
Irjen Agus emphasised the authorities’ commitment to continuous monitoring and security throughout the holiday period. “We will not tire in monitoring and securing both the outbound and return journeys that will soon take place,” he said.
Irjen Agus stressed that Operation Ketupat 2026 serves a broader purpose beyond traffic management, ensuring that activities during the sacred month of Ramadan through to Nyepi remain safe and conducive. The operation carries the motto “Safe Travel, Happy Families”.
“Operation Ketupat is not just about traffic; we, the state, are present to ensure that activities during the sacred month of Ramadan, including Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi, remain safe and conducive,” he stated.
Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi confirmed that monitoring data showed increased vehicle numbers, though conditions remained manageable. Peak congestion was predicted for the evening hours.
“So far, we are seeing traffic slightly above normal, but relatively flowing quite smoothly. We will continue monitoring, as we expect congestion will likely occur today,” Dudy said.
“However, since it is still early in the day—congestion typically occurs in the evening after sunset prayers—traffic appears normal so far, although there is a slight increase,” he added.
Operation Ketupat 2026 is scheduled to run for two weeks, from 13 to 25 March 2026, under the motto “Safe Travel, Happy Families”.
