National Police Urge Public to Prioritise Safety During Travel Over Eid Holiday
The Eid al-Fitr holiday serves as an opportunity for the public to travel and go on excursions. Polri has urged the public to remain vigilant and prioritise safety during their journeys. “The Indonesian National Police urges all members of the public who utilise the Eid al-Fitr holiday for travel or tourism to always prioritise safety, vigilance, and adherence to prevailing regulations,” stated Brigadier General Tjahyono, Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Ketupat 2026, to reporters in Ragunan, South Jakarta, on Sunday (22/3/2026). Tjahyono noted that the Eid holiday is synonymous with increased public mobility, both for family gatherings and visiting various tourist destinations. He then reminded the public to ensure physical preparedness and vehicle condition. “Therefore, Polri reminds the public to plan their journeys well, ensure their physical condition is in top shape, and not to push themselves if feeling tired while driving or during excursions,” he explained. His side also reminded the public planning to visit tourist destinations such as beaches, rivers, and swimming pools to continuously monitor weather conditions and water currents. “Pay attention to weather conditions, water flows, and comply with all warning signs and instructions from officers at the site. Parents are asked to closely supervise their children given the high potential for hazards at water-based tourist areas,” he said. Furthermore, Tjahyono continued, the public is urged not to swim in prohibited areas and to avoid high-risk activities. They should also use safety equipment when necessary. “Safety must be the top priority, not only for oneself but also for family and those around. Polri also reminds tourist site managers to take responsibility for ensuring visitor safety,” he stated. “Managers are expected to regulate visitor capacity to avoid overcrowding, provide adequate safety facilities and infrastructure, and prepare security personnel and first aid at the tourist sites,” he added. Polri emphasises that safety is a shared responsibility. Awareness and discipline from all members of the public are required so that journeys home for Eid, holidays, and the return flow can proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly.
