National Police Traffic Corps: Operation Ketupat 2026 focused on safety and security
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s National Police Traffic Corps Chief (Kakorlantas) Lieutenant General Agus Suryonugroho stated that Operation Ketupat 2026 is a humanitarian initiative that will prioritise the safety and security of citizens travelling during the festive season.
“Operation Ketupat is not merely a traffic operation, nor is it solely about managing the flow of homebound and return travellers. Rather, the state and the National Police are present amongst the community to ensure that the sacred month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr proceed safely, in order and secure from criminal threats, whilst maintaining smooth traffic flow,” he said in Jakarta on Saturday.
Accordingly, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has established the tagline “Safe Journey, Happy Family” as the primary spirit guiding all National Police units in serving the public.
“Travelling home is a family story. Our duty is to protect it. The journey home is not merely about travel; it is about arriving safely,” he said.
To provide security and comfort for travelling citizens, Agus stated that five clusters have become the focus of security operations, namely toll roads, national highways or district roads, ferry ports, places of worship, and tourist destinations.
This has become a special area of attention that the National Police Traffic Corps has prepared to ensure smooth implementation of Operation Ketupat.
The two-star police general also emphasised that the operation not only safeguards travellers en route to their hometowns but also during their return journey.
Agus requested that field personnel maintain their commitment to duty so that Operation Ketupat runs smoothly until its conclusion. He also stressed the importance of collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
“We arrive early and depart last. We work before congestion occurs, we work before any problematic situations develop, and the National Police are present to provide security against criminal threats and ensure safety, order, and smooth traffic flow,” he said.
