The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) Chief Irjen Agus Suryonugroho has reiterated his call for the public to utilise the free homecoming programme whilst launching a media coverage team for the 2026 Ketupat Operation. On this occasion, Agus emphasised the importance of safety by urging the public not to use motorcycles for long-distance homecoming travel.

Irjen Agus conveyed a message from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo regarding the operation’s motto “Safe Homecoming, Happy Family”, which reflects the state’s commitment to ensuring that homecoming journeys proceed safely and smoothly.

“We are communicating that the Ketupat Operation is a humanitarian operation. It is not merely about managing the flow of traffic during homecoming and return travel, but the state is present to ensure that those who will be travelling home and returning must arrive safely and soundly with joy,” said Irjen Agus after launching the media coverage team at NT Tower, Jakarta, on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

“Because the motto of this year’s Ketupat Operation is ‘Safe Homecoming, Happy Family’, and the state is already prepared to serve the public,” he added.

Cross-sector coordination is key to ensuring that public services during the homecoming journey and religious celebrations proceed safely, orderly, and comfortably. Notably, Bali’s Nyepi Day, falling on 19 March 2026, will coincide closely with Eid al-Fitr celebrated by Muslims.

“All preparations for the Ketupat Operation, whether from stakeholders, synergies with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, all ministries of the Red and White Cabinet, Jasa Marga directors, Jasa Raharja, and everyone is ready,” he said.

Irjen Agus emphasised that Korlantas Polri is not merely issuing appeals but is also working on a data and real-time technology-based system to guarantee smooth and safe travel for the public during the homecoming period.

“Certainly, Korlantas Polri is not merely issuing appeals, but the results come from the system we have built based on real-time data and technology to ensure smooth homecoming and return travel. The state is present to ensure safety in the criminal law enforcement field and smooth operations in the traffic field,” he said.

Finally, he urged all travellers to heed the guidance of officers and prioritise safety whilst on the road. Two-wheeled vehicles are not recommended for travel, instead utilising the free homecoming programme to support safe and smooth journeys.

“Depart safely, return safely. This is so that the public can enjoy their journey with joy, particularly during Lebaran in 2026. Regarding crime prevention, this is our collective responsibility—ensure your home is locked and secure,” he said.

“If the public requires assistance, they may contact the free 24-hour emergency service 110, which allows citizens to report criminal acts, traffic accidents, fires, or public order disturbances quickly and easily,” he concluded.
