National Police Traffic Chief Reveals Keys to Successful Ketupat Operation: Synergy and Technology Utilisation
Jakarta – The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Irjen Agus Suryonugroho attended a meeting with transportation experts in preparation for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H at the Jasa Raharja office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
In his remarks, Agus stressed that the state is committed to ensuring the safety of road users travelling during the annual mudik (homecoming) period. He emphasised that mudik is not merely a journey, but fundamentally about safety.
The Kakorlantas also conveyed a message from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo regarding the tagline “Safe Mudik, Happy Family”. Before the assembled experts and stakeholders, he introduced a road safety campaign song titled “Orderly Mudik, Don’t Rush”.
“The Ketupat Operation is a humanitarian operation. The state is present not only to manage traffic or oversee the flow of homebound and returning travellers, but also to safeguard the social and spiritual momentum of society throughout the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr,” he said.
Agus continued, stating that the keys to the success of the 2026 Ketupat Operation are synergy and collaboration with stakeholders, as well as the utilisation of technology as a parameter for setting traffic engineering measures.
“The keyword of the Ketupat Operation is safety, along with collaboration and synergy from all parties. This evening at the Jasa Raharja office, many transportation experts and academics are present, providing various inputs to complement the steps and strategies we will implement in the field,” he explained.
Agus expressed hope that the entire 2026 Ketupat Operation will proceed safely in terms of both security and road safety and order.
“Our objective is simple: to ensure that people departing for mudik arrive at their destination safely and happily in their hometowns. Then, when returning from mudik, they can also return safely to their respective places,” he concluded.
The discussion was also attended by Jasa Raharja Chief Executive Muhammad Awaluddin, Jasa Raharja Relations and Institutional Affairs Director Dewi Aryani Suzana, Ministry of Transportation Road Traffic Director Rudi Irawan, and University of Indonesia Transportation Expert Tri Tjahjono.
