National Police Traffic Chief Has Mapped High-Risk Homecoming Routes for 2026, Priority Monitoring
The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, announced that Korlantas Polri has mapped numerous accident-prone locations or black spots along Eid homecoming routes. These points will become priority security areas during the 2026 Ketupat Operation.
“So the critical points where accidents have occurred, we already have data on them, called black spots. Nearly all become priorities, whether on toll roads, arterial roads, or roads leading to tourist destinations,” said Inspector General Agus during a press conference at the Bina Graha Building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
The black spots are scattered across toll roads, arterial routes, and roads leading to tourist destinations. Agus stated that at critical points, his agency has already established security and service posts.
“At the critical points, especially those involving traffic accidents, security posts have been established there, there are service posts, and also integrated posts,” he said.
Inspector General Agus further outlined the implementation of the Ketupat Operation from the previous year. Evaluation results showed that the 2025 Ketupat Operation successfully reduced traffic accidents by 31 percent and decreased victim fatalities by 51 percent.
“Regarding the evaluation of the Ketupat Operation, indeed the success of the 2025 Ketupat Operation reduced accident incidents by 31 percent and reduced victim fatalities by 51 percent,” he said.
Based on these achievements, Korlantas Polri emphasised the importance of cross-ministry and inter-agency collaboration to make the 2026 Ketupat Operation successful with the tagline ‘Safe Homecoming, Happy Family’. Various agencies, from relevant ministries to National Police Headquarters, have prepared anticipatory measures to ensure smooth outbound and return traffic flows during Eid.
“Therefore, the key word for success in 2026, first of all, is collaboration. Ministries, National Police Headquarters, and agencies have already prepared and evaluated future measures,” said Inspector General Agus.
“So the Ketupat Operation is not just about traffic, not just securing homecoming and return traffic. The Ketupat Operation is the state being present to ensure that the state guarantees and secures the momentum of social and spiritual significance. So the series of events from the holy month of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and all the festivities must be secure from the perspective of crime and orderly in terms of traffic,” he added.
