National Police to Enforce Strict Action Against Three-Axle Vehicles Operating During Eid Holiday Transport Period
Jakarta — The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) will take strict enforcement action against three-axle cargo vehicles that continue to operate during the 2026 Eid holiday transport period due to violation of cargo transport operational restrictions policy.
Brigadier General Faizal, Director of Law Enforcement for Korlantas, stated that three-axle vehicles were still operating as of Saturday (14 March), despite the cargo transport restriction having come into effect on Friday (13 March).
“We have already implemented time policies and duration restrictions,” he said at the Command Centre KM 29 in Bekasi, West Java, early Sunday morning.
He assured that police would take firm enforcement action against violating vehicles.
“We may conduct enforcement tomorrow, through warnings or traffic fines,” he said.
The government has implemented cargo transport operational restrictions during the Eid holiday transport period from 13-29 March 2026 to ensure smooth homecoming and return traffic flow.
“The cargo transport operational restriction during the Eid holiday transport period is implemented continuously from 13 March 2026 at 12:00 local time until 29 March 2026 at 24:00 local time,” said Aan Suhanan, Director General of Land Transport at the Ministry of Transport.
The regulation applies on both toll roads and arterial roads. The cargo transport vehicle restriction applies to freight vehicles with three or more axles, freight vehicles with trailers, semi-trailers, as well as cargo vehicles carrying mining products, mineral extraction results and building materials.
However, goods distribution can still be carried out using two-axle vehicles, with the exception of mining products such as soil, sand, stone, mineral extraction results and building materials such as steel, cement and timber.
Cargo transport vehicles exempted from restrictions and permitted to operate with three or more axles include those carrying fuel and gas, livestock, fertiliser and disaster relief assistance.
Additionally, essential commodities are permitted provided that the vehicles used do not exceed the load and dimensional limits as indicated in the contract or agreement document between the goods owner and the transport operator.
