The National Police of the Republic of Indonesia has reminded the public to prioritise thorough preparation and maintain safety during the momentum of the 2026 Eid exodus. Karopenmas of Polri’s Public Relations Division Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko emphasised the importance of such preparedness, noting that the exodus flow would occur within the coming weeks. Polri ensured it was ready to provide maximum services to guarantee smooth traffic during the exodus.

Trunoyudo urged the public not to hesitate in coordinating with officers in the field to secure assets left behind whilst returning to their hometowns. Citizens were encouraged to report to local neighbourhood officials and utilise security facilities provided by the police.

“Inform your neighbourhood leaders, those staying behind, and especially coordinate with Polri’s community policing officers (Bhabinkamtibmas). There are also vehicle storage facilities at police precincts and police offices. Please utilise these,” Trunoyudo stated.

Beyond home security, road safety became a primary focus highlighted by police. The public was urged to prioritise safety over speed to ensure their journeys ended with reuniting with family in good health.

“Safety is the most important factor in the exodus—arriving at your destination, not speed,” he emphasised.

The message was delivered by Trunoyudo during a joint social action by Polri and Trunojoyo journalists distributing 1,500 food packages and iftar meals in South Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March. The annual initiative, launched by journalists with police support, targeted street workers and drivers still active as sunset prayer time approached. Trunoyudo explained that each year the activity routinely reached citizens still working at day’s end.

“Every year we distribute food packages including iftar meals to people nearing sunset prayer time whilst still in the midst of their work,” Trunoyudo said.

The food distribution targeted ride-hailing drivers and other public transport drivers passing near National Police Headquarters. This was emphasised as a demonstration of collective concern and empathy for workers who remain dedicated as iftar time arrives.

“Such as ride-hailing drivers and other public transport drivers. This demonstrates our collective attention and empathy,” he concluded.
