National Police Headquarters Seizes Bag and Phone During Arrest of Andre 'The Doctor' in Malaysia
The Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has arrested the fugitive drug trafficker Andre Fernando, alias Charlie or ‘The Doctor’, in Malaysia. Police secured several pieces of evidence, including a bag and a mobile phone.
“The evidence secured earlier in Penang consisted only of a bag and several handphones that we brought,” said the Head of the NIC Task Force, Commissioner Kevin Leleury, to reporters at Bareskrim Polri in South Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026).
Leleury stated that Andre’s arrest was carried out jointly with the International Relations Division, Interpol, and the Indonesian Consulate General in Malaysia. He was arrested alone while in an apartment.
“The arrest took place yesterday afternoon in an apartment in Penang, Malaysia,” he said.
Previously, Andre Fernando was a wanted suspect (DPO) in a narcotics case involving drug lord Ko Erwin. The Ko Erwin case also implicated former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro and former Bima City Police Narcotics Unit Chief AKP Malaungi.
Andre is said to be the figure who supplied the methamphetamine purchased by Ko Erwin for distribution in the Bima area, NTB. Ko Erwin is known to have conducted two transactions with Andre in January 2026.
The first transaction was worth Rp 400 million for 2 kg of methamphetamine. Then, the second transaction was Rp 400 million for 3 kg of methamphetamine received.
The Director of Narcotics at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, said that Andre is known by the nickname ‘The Doctor’. He acts as a distributor who smuggles drugs into Indonesia via land and cargo routes.
“Ko Andre or ‘The Doctor’ supplies various types of drugs, including methamphetamine, vapes containing etomidate, and happy water,” said Dirtipidnarkoba Brigadier General Eko Hadi in his statement.
Ko Andre, continued Eko, has a network in the Riau region. He imports vape cartridges containing etomidate under brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini via sea routes from Malaysia through Dumai, Riau.
“Whereas for methamphetamine shipments, they mostly use cash cargo that is packed and inserted into dolls, then wrapped in gift boxes,” Eko revealed.
