JAKARTA — The National Police headquarters has clarified details regarding a video of a horse simulator that went viral on social media and triggered various public comments.

Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the horse simulator is part of a training facility procured using the 2016 budget allocation.

“The cost per unit is 1 billion rupiah,” Isir told journalists on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

Isir explained that the simulator is used as a basic training facility for police officers assigned to mounted units.

First, the simulator is used to learn basic riding techniques, ranging from walking, running, to galloping or horse running movements with synchronized foot rhythm.

“Second, learning jumping or obstacle jumping,” said Isir.

The third and fourth simulators are used for racing or speed training exercises.

The horse simulator facility is located at the headquarters of the Animal Police Directorate in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java.

In one of the circulating videos, numerous police officers, both male and female, can be seen trying the equipment accompanied by instructors. They ride the horse simulator in turns, whilst in front of them is a monitor screen displaying horse riding terrain simulation. The equipment also appears to move in accordance with the terrain conditions shown on the screen, providing a training experience that resembles actual horse riding conditions.
