National Police Confirms Criminal Investigation Into Bripda MS Continues

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police has confirmed that the criminal investigation into Bripda MS (Mesias Viktor Siahaya), a member of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) who is a suspect in the alleged assault case involving a student with the initials AT in Tual, Maluku, is ongoing.
The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Johnny Eddizon Isir, said that the case file is currently in the process of being submitted in the first stage to the Tual Public Prosecutor’s Office.
“The case file has been completed and the first stage has been submitted to the Tual Public Prosecutor’s Office on 24 February 2026,” he said at the National Police’s Public Relations Division building, Jakarta, Wednesday.
He said that Mesias is suspected of violating Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 paragraph (3) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and/or Article 466 paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, with a maximum criminal sanction of 15 years and a fine of up to IDR 3 billion.
“It is hoped that the formal and material completeness can be achieved so that the process of submitting the suspect and evidence will follow, and then the next process will enter the judicial process,” he said.
The handling of this case by the National Police is also being carried out simultaneously with ethical handling. The member in question has been given the sanction of dismissal without honour (PTDH).
Furthermore, Johnny said that the National Police, through the Maluku Regional Police and the Tual Police, is assisting the victim’s family by providing hospital care to the victim AT’s older sibling, with the initials NK.
“We will continue to assist the family until this process ends,” he said.
He also emphasised that the National Police is committed to carrying out its duties by upholding the code of ethics and upholding the applicable rules and regulations.
“The Chief of Police has affirmed that the National Police will not hesitate to firmly enforce the code of ethics and the law if there are individuals who, in carrying out their duties or in their attitude and behaviour, deviate,” he said.
Regarding this alleged assault case, based on the chronology provided by the police, the incident began when a Brimob patrol carried out a security operation using tactical vehicles in the Tual City and Southeast Maluku Regency areas on Thursday (19/2) early in the morning.
The patrol initially was in the Mangga Dua Complex, Langgur until around 02.00 WIT. Then, it moved to Fiditan Village, Tual City after receiving reports from residents regarding an alleged assault in the Tete Pancing area.
While at the location, the suspect Mesias and a number of members got out of the vehicle and carried out security measures. About 10 minutes later, two motorcycles sped past from Ngadi towards Tete Pancing.
The suspect is said to have swung a tactical helmet as a signal. However, the helmet hit the victim AT (14) on the right temple, causing the victim to fall from the motorcycle in a prone position.
The victim was then rushed to the Karel Sadsuitubun Langgur Regional Hospital for medical treatment. However, at 13.00 WIT, the victim was declared dead.
