National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has appealed to the public undertaking Eid homebound travel in 2026 to prioritise safety on the roads and refrain from forcing themselves to drive in order to chase arrival times at their hometowns.

Listyo stated that the National Police have positioned personnel at various strategic points, ranging from toll roads, arterial highways, to crossing points. This forms part of Operation Ketupat 2026.

“We have followed up with the deployment of personnel at PAM posts, service posts, integrated service points, and along routes that will be used by the public for homebound travel or returns, whether on toll roads, arterial highways, or crossing routes,” said Listyo during the Ramadan Safari activity at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters on Saturday (14 March).

Given the growing volume of homebound traffic already visible, Listyo called on travellers to remain vigilant. He emphasised the importance of rest to maintain physical fitness so that the occasion of meeting family in hometowns is not disrupted by health issues or accident risks.

“We are already seeing members of the public beginning their homebound journeys. My message is to please be careful on the roads and not force yourselves to arrive too quickly. Rest so that we can meet our families in our hometowns in good health,” he said.

To support traveller comfort, the National Police have provided various facilities at integrated service posts. He also encouraged the public to utilise rest areas and service posts that have been prepared, which are also equipped with health services as well as provisions for breaking the fast and dawn meals.

“We have prepared places for rest. If someone becomes tired, there are rest areas, integrated service posts, and service posts that can be used for rest. Various facilities have been prepared, including fast-breaking provisions, dawn meal preparation, and health check-ups,” he explained.

Through the deployment of personnel and facilities, Listyo hopes that traffic accident numbers during the Eid al-Fitr homebound period in 2026 can be minimised as much as possible. The National Police Chief assured that his institution is ready to provide the best service to the public during the Eid holiday period.

“Therefore, I request that we also protect accident numbers. The homebound journey can proceed smoothly and the National Police are ready to provide the best service to the public undertaking homebound travel during Eid al-Fitr in 2026,” he said.
