National Police Chief Sends Off Thousands in Free 2026 Homecoming Programme at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo saw off the departure of thousands of participants in the “Free Homecoming National Police Precision 2026” programme at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters. The programme forms part of the National Police’s efforts to provide comfort and security for members of the public wishing to celebrate Eid in their home towns.

General Sigit arrived at the Presisi Field of Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, in the morning. Attending were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs General (Retired) Djamari Chaniago, Minister of Transport Dudy Purwagandhi, and Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Metro Jaya Police Chief Irjen Asep Edi Suheri, and National Police Traffic Corps Commander Irjen Agus Suryonugroho, as well as relevant stakeholders.

Before seeing off the coach convoy, General Sigit inspected the health tent. The National Police Chief ensured all drivers and passengers were in good health to undertake the long journey. He also directly observed the health checks being conducted by the medical team.

A warm atmosphere prevailed as General Sigit boarded a bus to greet the homecoming travellers directly. The National Police Chief not only chatted with passengers but also distributed Eid gift packages to travellers as provisions for their journey.

The National Police Chief stated that the Free Homecoming National Police Precision programme represents the presence of the state in ensuring the public could return home safely, comfortably, and happily. In line with this year’s motto, “Safe Homecoming, Happy Families”.

The event culminated in an official flag-off ceremony at the departure podium. By raising the starting flag, the National Police Chief formally saw off the convoy of buses that would transport homecoming travellers to various destinations in Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region. In total, 4,009 homecoming travellers were transported using 80 buses.

The National Police Chief emphasised that all bus fleets used had undergone roadworthiness inspections (ramp checks). Additionally, security along homecoming routes had been arranged by the National Police Traffic Corps ranks together with relevant agencies to anticipate congestion.

The National Police Chief previously cautioned drivers to prioritise safety. Drivers should not push themselves if tired and should utilise the security and service posts provided by the National Police and all stakeholders along the homecoming routes.
