National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has confirmed that police-owned health facilities across Indonesia are ready to serve workers enrolled in the Social Security Administration Agency (BPJS) Health programme.

Listyo made the announcement whilst attending the anniversary celebration of the All-Indonesia Workers’ Union Confederation (KSPSI) at PT Victory Chingluh Indonesia in Tangerang Regency on Monday (16/2).

“I have instructed that for our fellow workers who receive BPJS services, they may use police-owned health facilities throughout Indonesia,” said Listyo.

Listyo stated that the Police Medical and Health Centre (Pusdokkes) had been instructed to prepare facilities to accommodate patients from the working class enrolled in BPJS.

“Particularly in areas where services are needed by our trade union colleagues,” he added.

According to him, the availability of BPJS services for workers at police health facilities represents the implementation of the police force’s commitment to promoting the welfare of the working class.

“This provides more options for our fellow workers regarding healthcare,” explained Listyo, who also serves as Chairman of the KSPSI Advisory Board.

Furthermore, Listyo said the police would continue to provide assistance to workers in addressing labour issues such as workers’ rights, employment opportunities, and improving the quality of human resources amongst the working class.

“The government wants industrial relations to function well so that on one hand companies can continue to operate, and naturally the workers who are employed can also attain welfare,” he said.

In addition, Listyo also touched upon the downstream processing programme, which is considered capable of creating numerous employment opportunities in both the formal and non-formal sectors, with positive impacts on the nation’s economic growth.

“The hope is that this can also provide opportunities for the public to obtain employment,” he explained.
