National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will establish a complaint centre to collect various information regarding the acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).

“We will also establish a complaint centre so that members of the public who may know about this and wish to provide information can file reports directly to the centre. We will then guide them,” Sigit told journalists in Surabaya, East Java, on Sunday (15/3).

Currently, the police are in the early stages of investigating the case. Listyo stated that specialist teams in the field are scouring for clues and gathering information from various sources to map the construction of the attack.

“Currently we are collecting information, and this information will be thoroughly examined one by one,” he said.

To accelerate the investigation process, the National Police will formally open the complaint centre for the general public. The centre is aimed at anyone who has relevant information or witnessed the incident to provide statements to investigators.

“Members of the public who may know about this and wish to provide information can file reports directly to the complaint centre, and we will guide them,” he said.

Listyo also provided assurances of safety for any civilian who dares to speak out or provide crucial information about this case. He guaranteed that the identity and safety of informants will be protected throughout the legal process.

“Clearly, all information provided by members of the public who assist us will be provided with protection guarantees,” he said.

Listyo stressed that the National Police will thoroughly investigate the attack. The investigation will be conducted professionally using scientific methods. This is being done to ensure all evidence found can be legally justified.

“I have received direct orders from the President to conduct a thorough investigation that is professional and transparent, and of course the steps we take will prioritise Scientific Crime Investigation (SCI),” he said.

He also assured that his ranks have already moved into the field. Developments in investigation results will be periodically reported to the public through the National Police Public Relations office as a form of transparency.

“For subsequent stages, I have already instructed my subordinates to work. And once there are developments from the information collection results we obtain, we will inform the public. Whether from complaints or from the National Police Public Relations office, which we have asked to provide information because this is indeed a serious concern of the President,” he concluded.
