National Police Chief Invites Community Organisations and Students to Collaborate in Nation-Building during Ramadan Gathering
The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, attended a breaking-of-the-fast event with a number of community organisations (Ormas), youth organisations (OKP), and students. The National Police Chief invited all elements to synergise in building the nation towards ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’.
‘This event is a moment of friendship that brings benefits to all of us. Especially in working together to protect our beloved Indonesia, Mother Pertiwi, in order to realise the President’s vision, namely the shared vision of a progressive Indonesia towards ’Golden Indonesia 2045’,’ said General Sigit at the Mutiara Auditorium, STIK/PTIK Polri, South Jakarta, Thursday (26/2).
During the event, General Sigit reflected on the struggles of young people in liberating the nation. According to General Sigit, young people played a major role in the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
‘Of course, we will never forget the history of how the role of young people began before we became independent. Young people have always been the main driving force in our continued struggle in carrying out the journey and history of this nation, and this is inseparable from the role of young people,’ he explained.
General Sigit recalled the moment when young people gathered and formulated the proclamation of Indonesian independence. Since then, young people have always been the driving force in the progress of the Indonesian nation.
‘They all united and at that time we together gave a new national identity, namely the Indonesian nation,’ said General Sigit.
‘Since then, the youth movement has continued, driving the course of history as the main driving force to accelerate the birth of major decisions at that time, pioneering the national awakening and encouraging the implementation of the proclamation of independence in 1945,’ he added.
General Sigit said that young people will continue to play an important role in advancing the nation. General Sigit also advised young people to continue to voice critical opinions in overseeing the democratic process.
‘The role of young people continues to this day. Of course, young people continue to develop themselves in the field of education, in preparing literacy in spreading ideas of unity and integrity, and of course, continue to voice critical opinions in overseeing the democratic process,’ he explained.
This breaking-of-the-fast event began with a reading of the Al-Quran by young Qari Muhammad Zian Fahrezi and a Tilawah by Risa Rosalia Dewi. This was followed by the distribution of donations to representatives of orphans who attended.
