National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo officially unveiled the tagline for Operation Ketupat 2026, namely “Safe Journey, Happy Family”. General Sigit instructed all ranks of the National Police to work synergistically and collaborate with stakeholders to provide the best service to the public.

“Our tagline this time is ‘Safe Journey and Happy Family’. Naturally, we are prioritising preemptive and preventive measures. We aim to keep law enforcement to an absolute minimum so that this truly becomes a humanitarian service,” said General Sigit during a Cross-Sectoral Coordination Meeting at the Mutiara Auditorium, STIK-PTIK, Jakarta, Monday (2 March 2026).

General Sigit emphasised that security preparations must be conducted thoroughly given that public movement is predicted to reach 143.9 million people. To manage this number, the National Police have deployed a total of 2,746 posts throughout Indonesia.

“We have prepared 2,746 posts. These comprise 1,624 Traffic Management Posts to regulate traffic flow, 779 Service Posts that the public can use to rest if fatigued, and 343 Integrated Posts serving as operations control centres and integrated service hubs,” explained General Sigit.

This year’s security focus covers 185,608 protected objects. These consist of 121,803 mosques and prayer locations for Eid prayers, 4,666 tourist sites, 2,966 shopping centres, as well as thousands of terminals, ports, train stations, and airports.

General Sigit also highlighted the readiness of facilities along the exodus routes. There are 62 rest areas along toll roads equipped with complete facilities ranging from fuel stations to electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS). Additionally, the government has repurposed 48 vehicle weighing check units into rest stops for travellers along major roads.

“I ask colleagues to ensure the readiness of equipment to handle potential disasters. Prepare evacuation routes and alternative routes in case of tidal flooding or landslides, particularly in West Java, Central Java, and East Java,” he added.

The National Police Chief also reminded his officers to be vigilant during peak accident hours, namely between 09:00 and 12:00 WIB. He requested service post managers to actively promote the importance of safe driving and optimise the 110 hotline service for members of the public requiring emergency assistance.

“Do not underestimate this, carry out all activities as optimally as possible. The success of this is the face of government; ensure the public feels safe and comfortable during their journeys to and from their destinations,” concluded General Sigit.

Operation Ketupat 2026 will involve 161,243 combined personnel consisting of 89,228 National Police officers and 72,015 personnel from related agencies such as the Armed Forces, Department of Transportation, Civil Service Police Unit, and civil society organisations. The force deployment is scheduled for 12 March.

A number of high-ranking state officials attended the coordination meeting, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Commerce Budi Santoso, and Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi. Also present were the Vice Operations Commander of the Armed Forces, the Head of the National Disaster Management Authority, the Head of the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency, and directors of state-owned enterprises including Pertamina, Jasa Marga, and Jasa Raharja.

The meeting was attended by 302 participants in person, including 28 officers from National Police headquarters and 36 provincial police chiefs from throughout Indonesia. In the structure of Operation Ketupat 2026, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit serves as Operation Policy Officer, assisted by Vice National Police Chief Major General Dedi Prasetyo as Deputy Officer. Technically, the operation will be led by National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho as Chief of Operations. All officials of Operation Ketupat 2026 were present at the coordination meeting.

Meanwhile, provincial police chiefs and regional force command officials followed the coordination meeting virtually to ensure central directives reached the regional level.
