The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, inaugurated the renovation of the Al-Adzim Mosque at Riau Police Headquarters during a working visit and Ramadan Safari programme in Pekanbaru on the evening of 17 March 2026.

The activity served not only as a moment to strengthen spiritual values but also as a reaffirmation of the National Police’s commitment to maintaining public security and order through collaborative and humanitarian approaches.

The National Police Chief arrived at Riau Police Headquarters at approximately 16:30 Western Indonesia Time, accompanied by Commission IV Chair of the House of Representatives Siti Hediati Hariyadi (better known as Titiek Soeharto) and Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni.

Accompanying the National Police Chief were senior officials from National Police Headquarters, including the Head of Intelligence and Security at National Police Headquarters General Yuda Gustawan, Head of Criminal Investigation General Syahardiantono, Commander of the Mobile Brigade General Ramdani Hidayat, and Head of Public Relations Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by the National Police Chief signing a commemorative plaque, followed by a direct inspection of the mosque’s renovation. The Al-Adzim Mosque now presents a more representative appearance as a place of worship and a space for togetherness among police personnel and the community.

During the occasion, the National Police Chief also formally established the Redundancy Task Force (PHK) for Riau Province and the Precision Ride-Hailing Community Safety Initiative.

Symbolically, the National Police Chief presented vests to representatives of the task force and ride-hailing drivers as a sign of the commencement of their active role in supporting security and order, as well as efforts to prevent forest and land fires in the Riau region.

This establishment formed part of strengthening the community policing strategy, wherein the National Police does not rely solely on law enforcement approaches but also builds partnerships with the community.

The involvement of the ride-hailing community as part of the “community safety belt” was regarded as a concrete step in expanding early detection networks and rapid response capabilities against potential security threats.

The activities also included Ramadan familiarisation visits and the distribution of assistance to orphaned children from Amanah and Anugerah Orphanages in Pekanbaru. The National Police Chief, together with Titiek Soeharto, personally distributed aid as a demonstration of social concern during the holy month of Ramadan.

During the Ramadan Safari programme, the National Police Chief emphasised the importance of maintaining unity amidst increasingly complex global dynamics. He stated that freedom of expression in democracy must be protected, but should not be exploited to divide the nation.

“We must unite to guide Indonesia towards becoming a developed nation. The demographic dividend momentum must be capitalised upon by preparing superior human resources to manage natural wealth for future generations,” said the National Police Chief.

The National Police Chief also ensured that the government continues to take mitigation steps against the impacts of the global crisis to maintain national stability.

According to him, the various policies currently being implemented represent efforts to maintain economic growth and realise a just and prosperous society.

Specifically, the National Police Chief expressed appreciation to the Riau Police Chief for various innovations undertaken, including the establishment of the Redundancy Task Force and the Precision Ride-Hailing Community Safety Initiative. These measures were regarded as a concrete manifestation of the National Police’s adaptive and responsive presence to regional challenges.

“Thank you, Chief, for establishing the Redundancy Task Force and embracing ride-hailing colleagues as part of the community safety belt. This is a genuine manifestation of the National Police’s partnership with the community in maintaining security and order as the foundation of development,” the National Police Chief stated firmly.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan conveyed that all programmes undertaken by Riau Police stemmed from the spirit of making the state genuinely present amongst the community.

According to him, the establishment of the Precision Ride-Hailing Community Safety Initiative and the Redundancy Task Force were not merely programmes but rather a form of state presence that listens to and responds to community needs.

“All these activities fundamentally aim to ensure that people feel secure, feel heard, and feel that the state is genuinely present in their lives,” said the Riau Police Chief.

He also emphasised that the initiative emerged from direct interaction with the community, particularly ride-hailing drivers and labour groups who have been an important part of the regional economy.

“We directly hear their struggles on the streets, about the families they support, and their hopes for life to become safer, more peaceful, and filled with hope. Riau Police are committed to realising these hopes,” he added.

The Ramadan Safari programme concluded with a religious sermon and collective prayer, followed by communal breaking of the fast in a warm atmosphere, reflecting the strong synergy among the National Police, government, and community in maintaining unity and ensuring sustainable development in Riau Province.

Attendees at the event included Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki, Acting Governor of Riau SF Hariyanto, Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan, Commander of Military Area XIX/Tuanku Tambusai Major General Agus Hadi Waluyo, and members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, religious leaders, and community leaders of Riau Province.
