National Police Chief Ensures Readiness of Ketapang Port to Handle Return Traffic and Tourism to Bali
Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - The Chief of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Kapolri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has assured the readiness of the police force in managing traffic at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, to face the peak return flow as well as the surge of tourists heading to Bali.
During monitoring at the ITDC Nusa Dua Command Centre, Badung Regency, Bali, on Tuesday, the National Police Chief stated that the police, together with stakeholders, have prepared strategic measures to ensure smooth vehicle flow from Ketapang Port to Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana Regency, Bali.
“Primarily, Ketapang must be prepared because there will be a return flow not only heading to Bali for work, but also possibly additional tourists,” said the National Police Chief.
He emphasised that traffic management on the crossing route is a priority to prevent congestion like that during the previous outbound holiday flow.
Therefore, cross-sector coordination continues to be strengthened to ensure the smooth mobility of the public.
During the inspection, the National Police Chief was accompanied by several officials, including the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, Deputy Governor of Bali Nyoman Giri Prasta, Main Assistant for Operations (Astamaops) of the National Police, Commissioner General of Police Mohammad Fadil Imran, Bali Provincial Police Chief Inspector General of Police Daniel Adityajaya, and Commander of the IX/Udayana Military Region Major General TNI Piek Budyakto.
In addition to focusing on the return flow, monitoring was also conducted on tourism activities in Bali.
The National Police Chief mentioned that although it is currently entering the low season period, there has been a 1.49 per cent increase in domestic tourist visits compared to ordinary days.
“From the ITDC Nusa Dua Command Centre, we can monitor the movement of people carrying out tourism activities in Bali, while also checking conditions in several regions in Indonesia related to tourism and preparations for the return flow,” he said.
The results of this monitoring will also serve as evaluation material for improving outbound and return flow services in 2027, with the hope that traffic management and public mobility can be even more optimal.
