JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has assured that the density of the Eid exodus traffic in the area leading to Gilimanuk Port, Bali, is gradually easing. He acknowledged that the area had previously been one of the most congested points during the 2026 Eid exodus, compounded by the Nyepi holiday. “The most congested point currently monitored, which colleagues noted a few days ago, was probably Gilimanuk, but alhamdulillah, it is slowly being resolved,” said the National Police Chief at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026). On the other hand, Sigit revealed that the volume of vehicles leaving Jakarta continues to increase during the exodus period. A total of 1,213,388 vehicles were recorded passing through toll roads. This figure represents an increase of 20.89 percent compared to normal daily traffic volume, and a 2.83 percent rise compared to the 2025 Eid period. To anticipate congestion, the National Police have prepared various support facilities for travellers, both on toll roads and arterial routes. These facilities include security posts, service posts, and integrated posts at rest areas. “There, facilities for resting, health checks, and even for eating—whether for breaking the fast or suhoor—as well as refuelling are all prepared,” Sigit explained. In addition, the National Police have deployed motorcycle officers to assist travellers facing issues on the road, such as running out of fuel amid traffic jams. The National Police Chief added that the public can also utilise real-time traffic information services through various platforms such as NTMC and Traffoy, as well as regional services like Sipolan in Central Java and Siger in Lampung. Sigit hopes that the entire series of the 2026 Eid exodus and return traffic will run smoothly in line with the slogan “Safe Exodus, Happy Family”. It was previously reported that queues of vehicles heading to Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana Regency, Bali, were still snaking on H-1 of Nyepi Day, Wednesday morning. Since 07.00 WITA, the queue of four-wheeled vehicles was reported to stretch about 20 kilometres (km).
