National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has affirmed the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to supporting workers’ struggles for their rights.

“We, particularly from the National Police, will continue to support programmes related to backing workers regarding rights that must continue to be safeguarded and protected,” Sigit said whilst attending the 53rd anniversary celebration of the Confederation of All-Indonesian Workers’ Unions (KSPSI) at the grounds of PT Victory Ching Luh Indonesia in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday (16/2/2026).

Sigit expressed hope for the creation of sound industrial relations going forward, where companies can operate whilst workers attain prosperity.

He stated that the National Police’s Labour Affairs Desk would continue to provide the best possible services, particularly to assist workers affected by redundancies.

“The labour affairs desk will certainly continue to optimally provide assistance, including seeking solutions needed so that fellow workers always receive support and certainty for their future,” he said.

The four-star general called on all elements of the labour movement to support government programmes in the employment sector, which would result in the creation of more job opportunities.

“One of them is the programme related to opening employment opportunities, both formal and informal, downstream industrialisation programmes and other programmes, which hopefully can also provide opportunities for the public. The hope is that with the availability of jobs, there will be a multiplier effect on economic growth,” he said.

On the other hand, Sigit also urged workers to demonstrate to the world that Indonesia is a country welcoming to investors.

“I always appeal that every struggle by fellow workers be carried out constructively. Furthermore, follow the rules and let us show the world that Indonesia is a country that is welcoming to investment and its workers. Professional and mature workers who can certainly provide a comfortable investment environment for incoming investors,” he said.

The KSPSI anniversary celebrations included a series of activities, among them health-related community service, blood donations, and the renovation of substandard workers’ housing.

“Today we, together with KSPSI, are carrying out the KSPSI anniversary celebration series which includes various activities — blood donations, providing assistance to members of the KSPSI community in need, and we are also conducting several activities over the coming month,” Sigit said after delivering his remarks.
