National Police Chief Apologises for the Actions of Officers That Have Undermined Public Trust
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has apologised for the actions of police officers that have undermined public trust.
“I would like to express my apologies if, in our daily activities, there have been actions by our officers, whether intentional or unintentional, that have undermined public trust. Therefore, we hereby apologise,” said the National Police Chief during an iftar event with members of the press at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/2/2026).
Sigit then affirmed that the National Police are ready to accept criticism and evaluation in order to improve performance.
“We are always ready to accept input, criticism and evaluation,” he said.
Sigit also emphasised the importance of maintaining good relations between the National Police and the media as one of the nation’s strengths in maintaining unity and cohesion in the face of various national challenges.
Prior to the iftar event with members of the press, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo distributed iftar meals around the National Police Headquarters area, Jalan Trunojoyo, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/2/2026) afternoon.
Sigit distributed iftar meals to road users, including online motorcycle taxi drivers and online taxi drivers.
In recent times, the National Police have been in the spotlight due to the actions of some of its personnel who have violated the law.
For example, the former Chief of Police for the City of Bima, AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro, was involved in a drug case after being found in possession of a suitcase full of drugs.
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit also stated that Didik received Rp 2.8 billion from a drug trafficking case.
In addition, there is also Bripda Masias Siahaya, a member of the Mobile Brigade in Tual, who was in the spotlight for assaulting a teenager with the initials AT (14 years old) to death.
