The Ketupat security operation during the Eid al-Fitr holiday exodus in 2026 will run for 13 days. A total of 89,228 police officers will be deployed to secure the homecoming period this year.

This was announced by the Head of the National Police Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam), Lieutenant General Karyoto, during a hearing session with Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. In the session chaired by Commission III Chair Habiburokhman, Karyoto stated that the Ketupat operation will run from 13 to 25 March 2026.

“The Ketupat operation, designated as Ketupat 2026, will be conducted for 13 days, beginning on 13 March and ending on 25 March 2026,” Karyoto said during the parliamentary session.

Karyoto stated that the Ketupat operation involves personnel from the military, the Transportation Department, and Civil Enforcement Officers (Satpol PP). He noted that tens of thousands of police would be deployed in the operation.

“In this operation, thousands of police personnel, assisted by the military, Transportation Department, Satpol PP and other relevant agencies, will be deployed to secure the main exodus routes, terminals, stations, ports, airports, and public gathering places such as shopping centres and tourist destinations. The total number of National Police personnel involved is 89,228,” Karyoto stated.

Kabaharkam revealed that police would also establish several strategic points to provide assistance to travellers. Additionally, traffic engineering measures such as one-way systems, contraflow systems, and restrictions on heavy vehicles would be implemented to reduce congestion.

“Police personnel will also conduct routine patrols to prevent criminal activities such as theft, robbery, and mugging, which often increase during the exodus season,” he noted.

He expressed hope that the Ketupat operation would create a safe and comfortable homecoming experience for the public. Karyoto stated that the agency would also deploy two air ambulances positioned on Java Island for emergency situations during the exodus.

“Specifically, we from Kabaharkam have prepared two air ambulances that can be utilised whenever incidents occur during the exodus journey. However, these are currently only positioned on Java Island,” he added.
