National Police: 459,570 vehicles depart Jakarta on second day of Operation Ketupat
Bekasi — The National Police’s Traffic Directorate (Korlantas Polri) reported that 459,570 vehicles departed Jakarta during the second day of Operation Ketupat 2026 on Saturday, 14 March.
“We did predict increases on 14 and 15 March. However, based on figures reported this evening, approximately 459,570 vehicles left Jakarta,” said Brigadier General Faizal, Director of Law Enforcement at Korlantas Polri, speaking from the Command Centre at KM 92 in Bekasi, West Java, on Sunday morning.
He noted that the majority of these vehicles were headed eastward toward the Trans-Java route, with private vehicles dominating the traffic flow. Some trucks continued to head toward the ports of Merak and Bakauheni.
From the total of 3.67 million vehicles predicted to depart Jakarta, he stated that approximately 3.2 million vehicles—roughly 76.9 per cent—were expected to leave on subsequent operational days.
To manage potential surges in traffic, Korlantas Polri will continue monitoring and deploying personnel across all routes, including toll roads and arterial highways. Authorities anticipate peak departures on Wednesday, 18 March, Thursday, 19 March, and Friday, 20 March, though they will maintain vigilance as the situation develops.
On the first day of Operation Ketupat 2026 on Friday, 13 March, toll operator Jasa Marga reported that 14 per cent of projected vehicles—approximately 285,000 vehicles from the anticipated 3.5 million total—had departed Jakarta, primarily heading toward the Trans-Java toll road.
