The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily halted operations of 1,512 nutrition service units (SPPG) in Region II. The temporary suspension is being carried out as an evaluation measure regarding compliance with operational standards and provision of infrastructure and facilities.

“We are temporarily suspending operations of 1,512 SPPG units as a follow-up to an evaluation of operational standard compliance and infrastructure and facilities requirements at several SPPG facilities,” said Albertus Dony Dewantoro, Director of Region II Monitoring and Supervision at BGN, speaking to journalists on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

He stated that this measure is part of efforts to restructure the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme to ensure all operational facilities meet established health, sanitation, and management standards.

The 1,512 SPPG units temporarily suspended are distributed across several provinces in Region II, including DKI Jakarta with 50 units; Banten 62 units; West Java (Jabar) 350 units; Central Java (Jateng) 54 units; East Java (Jatim) 788 units; and DI Yogyakarta 208 units.

Dewantoro stated that the temporary suspension was ordered because several SPPG facilities had not met a number of basic operational requirements. One of the main findings was that many SPPG units had not registered their Hygiene and Sanitation Fit Certificate (SLHS).

From the evaluation results, 1,043 SPPG units have not yet registered the certificate. Additionally, BGN also found that 443 SPPG units did not have wastewater treatment installations (IPAL) that met standards.

Beyond this, another issue identified was the absence of residential accommodation (mess) for SPPG heads, nutritionists, and accountants at several service units. This situation was recorded at 175 SPPG units, with details as follows: Banten 36; Yogyakarta 86; West Java 24; Central Java 10; and East Java 19.

BGN will also provide guidance and verification for affected units to enable them to quickly complete required specifications.

“Operations of temporarily suspended SPPG units will be reopened gradually after all operational requirements and established standards have been met,” said Dewantoro.
