National Nutrition Agency Halts Free Nutritious Meal Kitchen Run by Central Lombok DPRD Member Over Non-Compliance
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operations of one Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Bonder Village, West Praya District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB). The closure was due to the kitchen facility providing meals for the Free Nutritious Meal programme (MBG) failing to meet established standards.
Dian Islamiati Fatwa, Expert Staff to the Deputy Chair III of BGN, disclosed that the MBG kitchen in question was operated by a DPRD member from District IV (Dapil IV) of Central Lombok. Dian stated that BGN had already issued a temporary suspension notice for the SPPG’s operations.
“Yesterday I visited one of the kitchens in Bonder Village, and I was shocked—this kitchen cannot reasonably be called a kitchen. And this (SPPG) belongs to a member of parliament,” said Dian during a focus group discussion (FGD) in Praya, Central Lombok, on Sunday (15 March 2026).
Dian noted that BGN has implemented similar enforcement measures against MBG kitchens in various regions that fail to meet standards. She emphasised that such policy decisions are necessary to ensure programme partners take the scheme seriously.
“Every day we have mobile inspection teams throughout Indonesia, what we call silent teams. Not just in Lombok,” she added.
Dian explained that the MBG kitchen inspections are not intended to intimidate partners, but rather to encourage all SPPG operators to improve their facilities and support the success of the Free Nutritious Meal programme.
“This is not to frighten anyone, but we do this for the children of Central Lombok,” she concluded.
