Jakarta, 22 February 2026 — Approximately 750 police personnel will be deployed to secure the peak celebration of the Lunar New Year festival at Banteng Field, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, 28 February 2026 at approximately 15:00 WIB.

“Our Traffic Management Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has prepared approximately 150 personnel for security, and personnel from territorial units approximately 600 personnel,” said the Operations Head of the Traffic Management Directorate of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Robby Herfados, to journalists on Saturday.

The event, planned to be attended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, will feature a series of activities, including a procession involving participants from the National Lunar New Year celebrations.

Nonetheless, road closures will be situational in nature and may only be implemented during the procession.

To anticipate congestion, traffic personnel will be stationed at various points to help manage traffic flow, particularly after the procession concludes.

Additionally, Metro Jaya Regional Police has prepared approximately 1,000 parking spaces distributed across the Foreign Ministry Office, the Old Pertamina Building, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Indonesian Post Office, and the AA Maramis Building.

“VIP parking has been prepared at the Borobudur Hotel car park,” he explained.

Total parking capacity reaches 1,000 vehicles. Meanwhile, entry points for the public have been prepared via West Banteng Field and East Banteng Field.

Under the theme “Harmoni Imlek Nusantara” (Lunar New Year Harmony of the Archipelago), this event is described as the first national Lunar New Year festival centred in an open public space and taking place coinciding with the month of Ramadhan.

This celebration represents the peak of Lunar New Year activities that have been held since 13 February 2026 in several cities across Indonesia.

In Jakarta, Banteng Field has been transformed into a cultural festival area, featuring bazaars with hundreds of local brands, dining centres for breaking fast, and shopping facilities for Eid al-Fitr needs.

The festival is open to the public free of charge and runs daily from 15:00–22:00 WIB.
