National Jamboree stickers
National Jamboree stickers
From Pelita
Indonesia's Scouting Movement (Pramuka) Quarters always issues
stickers for the national jamboree. The last event was in 1996,
and nobody had any objection to paying for the sticker. This was
done to support the youngsters who joined the scouting
activities. The issuance of the stickers was legalized by the
Ministry of Social Affairs.
But problems arose when a private party was given the
responsibility of managing the production and distribution of the
stickers. The private party also saw this as a good opportunity
to collect as much money as possible.
Now, eight months have already passed since the jamboree was
in progress, but payment for the stickers is still being
collected through a railway station in Central Java. An extra Rp
1,000 has to be paid for the sticker for every train ticket
bought.
I urge the concerned authorities to look into the matter in
order to maintain the good image of our scouting movement and the
railway company.
