National Electricity Roll Call: PLN CEO: 72,053 Personnel on Standby to Ensure Power Reliability for Eid
The President Director of PT PLN (Persero), Darmawan Prasodjo, has emphasised that 72,053 PLN personnel remain on standby to ensure the reliability of the national electricity supply ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.
He conveyed this during the National Electricity Roll Call, attended by PLN Group standby personnel across Indonesia. The roll call was held in a hybrid format at the PLN Main Unit for Load Dispatching of Java, Madura, and Bali (UIP2B Jamali) office in Depok, West Java, on Thursday (19/3/2026).
During the roll call, Darmawan outlined that the current state of the national electricity system is safe and under control in preparation for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.
“The electricity system, praise be to God, is running safely and in prime condition. The peak load is estimated at around 35 GW (gigawatts) with a supply capacity of more than 51 GW, so the system is very secure. The availability of primary energy sources, including coal, fuel oil, and gas, is also well maintained,” he stated in a press release on Friday (20/3/2026).
With this capacity, the national electricity system has sufficient power reserves to maintain system reliability during the Eid period.
Furthermore, Darmawan stressed that the readiness of personnel during the standby period from 12 to 31 March 2026 serves as the frontline in ensuring the smooth supply of electricity. To this end, the 72,053 personnel are distributed across 4,137 posts throughout the country and are on alert 24 hours non-stop.
“PLN personnel across Indonesia remain on standby. Amid the long holiday period, we continue to work in the field to maintain the reliability of the electricity supply. We also ensure that vital facilities and Eid worship activities can proceed smoothly,” he explained.
These personnel are also supported by operational vehicles consisting of 4,901 cars and 4,594 motorcycles, as well as various supporting equipment such as 2,005 generator sets, 773 uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), 1,349 mobile substations (UGB), and 429 cranes for layered security.
According to him, this readiness is the result of synergy among all PLN Group personnel, prepared well in advance, encompassing the sufficiency of primary energy, readiness of power plants, and resilience of transmission and distribution networks.
In addition to maintaining electricity supply reliability, PLN is also strengthening support for electric vehicle users. PLN has prepared 4,769 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) spread across 3,097 locations throughout the country.
To bolster charging services during the homecoming traffic, PLN has also prepared emergency services in the form of mobile SPKLU.
“We are also providing 15 mobile SPKLU units. If there are issues with running out of power during travel, the public can contact us via WhatsApp at 08777 111 2123. We are ready to serve homecoming travellers using electric vehicles to ensure their journeys remain smooth,” he clarified.
In closing, Darmawan reaffirmed PLN’s commitment to continue delivering the best services during the Eid al-Fitr moment.
“Eid al-Fitr is a sacred moment for Muslims. We remain on standby to provide the best services so that the public can celebrate Eid al-Fitr with reverence, warmth, and full togetherness, with reliable electricity,” Darmawan concluded.
