JAKARTA - The National Command Post of the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) sector for the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (RAFI) 2026 period was officially opened by the Ministry of ESDM at the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) building in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March. PT PLN (Persero) declared its readiness to maintain reliable electricity supply whilst supporting public mobility through strengthened Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) infrastructure.

Deputy Minister of ESDM, Yuliot Tanjung stated that the National RAFI 2026 Command Post, operating from 12 to 31 March 2026, functions as an information and coordination centre to ensure adequate energy supply remains available and accessible to all segments of society.

“For the smooth operation of this Ramadan and Eid command post, the primary focus is on ensuring public safety and comfort, which we must guarantee. We also need to ensure sufficient energy is available and accessible to all without exception, and this forms part of our oversight,” said Yuliot.

Chair of the National ESDM Sector Command Post for RAFI 2026, Erika Retnowati emphasised that through effective synergy amongst all stakeholders in the ESDM sector, various obstacles and challenges can be anticipated early and handled more quickly and effectively.

“Through a spirit of collaboration and synergy amongst agencies, it is hoped that the National ESDM sector Command Post can operate smoothly and the Indonesian people can celebrate Eid al-Fitr safely and happily,” said Erika.

PLN Director General, Darmawan Prasodjo stated that PLN was ready to support government directives by ensuring the national electricity system remained in a safe and controlled condition. Nationally, peak demand during the RAFI 2026 period is projected to reach 47.20 gigawatts (GW), with sufficient generation capacity of 51.61 GW. This represents a power reserve of 4.41 GW, or approximately 9.3 per cent.

To maintain reliable electricity supply, PLN mobilised approximately 72,000 personnel assigned to 4,137 standby posts. Teams were equipped with various support equipment, including 2,005 generators, 773 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, 1,349 mobile substations (UGB), 429 crane trucks, 4,901 operational vehicles and 4,594 operational motorcycles.

“We are not only maintaining aggregate national electricity supply, but also ensuring every system and subsystem down to regional and local levels remain in safe and reliable condition,” said Darmawan.

EV Usage on the Rise

Darmawan revealed that the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) in Indonesia continues to show a positive trend. During this year’s Eid holiday period, the number of travellers using EVs is projected to increase by nearly 10,000 vehicles. Consequently, the total is estimated to exceed 23,000 EV travellers, representing an increase of approximately 1.6 times compared to Eid al-Fitr 2025.

To anticipate this surge, PLN provided 1,681 SPKLU units at 994 locations along major mudik (holiday) routes spanning the Trans-Sumatra–Java–Bali corridor. This figure increased by approximately 1.7 times compared to the Eid al-Fitr 2025 period.

“We ensure all charging infrastructure is ready to support the needs of EV travellers, so journeys can proceed safely and comfortably. Beyond the main mudik routes, nationally PLN and its partners have prepared 4,769 SPKLU units distributed across 3,097 strategic locations throughout Indonesia,” said Darmawan.

To ensure smooth electric vehicle service operations, PLN also prepared 15 mobile SPKLU units and more than 5,000 personnel on 24-hour standby. Travellers can also utilise digital service features through the PLN Mobile application, such as Trip Planner to identify SPKLU locations along travel routes and AntreEV to monitor charging queues in real time.

“For electric vehicle users requiring assistance, simply report through the PLN Mobile application or contact the SPKLU service hotline via WhatsApp at 087-77-1112-123, which is accessible 24 hours a day,” said Darmawan.
