Name of KA Argo Bromo Anggrek Officially Removed, Replaced with KA Anggrek
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has renamed the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek to KA Anggrek. On its social media account, KAI hopes that this name change will bring a new spirit. The renaming of the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek identity to KA Anggrek takes effect from 9 May 2025. “KA Argo Bromo Anggrek arrives with a new identity as KA Anggrek,” wrote KAI on Tuesday (5/5/2026). More than just a name change, KAI states that this embodies the commitment to continuously provide the best service in every journey. “With its flagship route connecting important cities, KA Anggrek is ready to accompany more comfortable, safe, and memorable journeys,” it wrote. Previously, KA Argo Bromo Anggrek collided with a special women’s KRL carriage on the platform at Bekasi Timur Station on 27 April 2026. In that incident, 16 passengers died and hundreds others were injured. The incident caused KRL and long-distance train services to the east to be paralysed. The KNKT is currently investigating the incident. One of the aspects being checked is the signalling system. Earlier, on 1 August 2025, KA Argo Bromo Anggrek also fell off the platform at Pegadenbaru Station in the Daop 3 Cirebon area. This incident caused long-distance train services from east to west to be completely paralysed.
