MV Doulos Hope Ship Delays Library Operations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The MV Doulos Hope, which is currently docked at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, carrying 2,000 books, has delayed the operational schedule of its floating library due to licensing constraints.
“The public opening, originally scheduled for Wednesday (16/9), must be postponed as we are still awaiting the completion of final administrative processes,” said Trizenia September, Executive Director of Duluos Hope from South Africa, in Jakarta on Friday.
She stated that the book exhibition on board the ship can only open to the public once the entire administrative process is complete. “The latest opening date will be announced in the near future,” Trizenia added.
Once officially opened, visitors will be able to enjoy a reading experience while exploring the book collection on board. “With a wide variety of options, all family members can find interesting books to enjoy,” said Trizenia.
According to her, the MV Doulos Hope is scheduled to remain at Tanjung Priok Port until 11 October 2026. However, the opening date of the library remains dependent on the completion of all official permits.
Latest information regarding the opening schedule and tickets will be shared via the official Doulos Hope Indonesia social media accounts. “We hope this visit can bring spirit and hope to the people of Jakarta. We hope the presence of Doulos Hope further strengthens existing relationships and opens opportunities for sharing knowledge, assistance, and hope together,” Trizenia expressed.
Furthermore, she mentioned that to visit the ship, members of the public must first undergo a check-in process at the North Jakarta Youth Arena (GRJU). Visitors will then use a provided shuttle bus service to reach the ship’s location within the Tanjung Priok Port area.
“Visiting services are open from Tuesday to Sunday, between 13:30 and 21:00 WIB. Visitors must enter the location no later than 20:30 WIB. Meanwhile, the service is closed every Monday,” Trizenia explained.
“Children must be accompanied by adults and adhere to the applicable ticketing regulations,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Mayor of North Jakarta, Fredy Setiawan, stated that the presence of the ship provides an opportunity for the community to gain new knowledge and experiences through books. He emphasised that books are a window to the world and literacy is an investment in the future.
“The more the younger generation reads, learns, and understands the world, the greater their chances of becoming creative, innovative individuals capable of competing globally,” concluded Fredy.
