Mutilator Convicted of Murdering Girlfriend Held in Solitary Confinement at Mojokerto Prison
Alvi Maulana (24) has become a feared figure at Mojokerto Class IIB Prison. The defendant in the murder and brutal mutilation case of Tiara Angelina Saraswati (25) has been placed in solitary confinement for the past three months.
According to reporting on 12 March 2026, Alvi was detained by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of Mojokerto Police from 7 September 2025. The young man from Aek Paing Tengah Hamlet, Aek Paing Village, Rantau Utara, Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra, was held at Mojokerto Police Detention Centre until 9 December 2025.
Following the investigators’ transfer of the case, evidence, and suspect to the State Prosecutor’s Office of Mojokerto District on 10 December 2025, Alvi became the prosecutor’s detainee. His detention was transferred to Mojokerto Class IIB Prison.
Upon entering the prison, Alvi was immediately placed in solitary confinement, where he remains today. His cell measures only 2 by 1.5 metres and contains a bathroom, mattress, and small corridor. He is completely alone in the cell.
“We isolate our inmates in individual cells—one inmate per cell—to prevent undesirable incidents. In cases of repeated self-harm such as mutilation, we always take precautions,” said Rudi Kristiawan, Head of Mojokerto Class IIB Prison, in an interview.
To date, Alvi has spent three months confined to the isolation cell. During his time at Mojokerto Prison, Rudi explained, Alvi is not permitted to leave the isolation cell except for specific activities, such as court hearings at Mojokerto District Court, medical treatment, and Friday prayers.
