Murder victim's family arrested

KUDUS, Central Java: Police here arrested a wife and son of a murdered businessman as well as four other suspects,Antara reported on Saturday.

Hendro Purnomo, 41, was known for his involvement in soccer gambling. The report did not say when he was killed. His body was found on a road under a motorcycle, leading to an initial suspicion that he was killed in an accident.

The four suspects were believed to have killed Hendro over a payment of Rp 250 million from his wife, police said.

Police chief Lt. Col. Bambang Poernomosidi would not give details.

Before the arrests, police dogs found a buried sleeping gown stained with blood which belonged to the victim's wife.

Police said the victim's wife, TS, 48, was angry because her husband had taken over family assets previously in her name and planned to divorce her.

The victim was said to have frequently abused his wife and children.

HS and Ab, Hendro's son, were placed in custody in a detective's room at the police station here.
