The perpetrator of the murder of Joxzin Brigade member Kitin Yoga Tama Rustamaji, known as YTR (36), remains unknown. Police continue to investigate two suspected perpetrators who hacked the victim to death in front of his family in Sedayu, Bantul.

“We are still conducting an investigation,” said Iptu Rita Hidayanto, Public Relations Officer of Bantul Police District, to detikJogja on Monday (2 March 2026).

To date, police have not increased the number of witnesses questioned. Currently, seven witnesses have been questioned.

“There are no additional witnesses,” she stated.

Rita remained guarded about the results of witness examinations. The police have also declined to release the results of CCTV analysis from the vicinity of the incident location.

“It is still being looked into,” Rita replied briefly.

It was previously reported that the victim was hacked to death in his home in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul on Wednesday (25 February) at 05:30 am local time. The bloody incident was carried out by two suspected perpetrators wearing face coverings.

The victim’s wife was also injured whilst attempting to block the attackers’ blows, whilst the victim’s 5-year-old child was unharmed. After hacking the victim, both perpetrators immediately fled the residence.

Police have begun examining a number of witnesses, two of whom are acquaintances of the victim.

“Yesterday, an additional three witnesses were examined at Bantul Police District. So in total, seven witnesses have been examined,” said Iptu Rita Hidayanto, Public Relations Officer of Bantul Police District, to detikJogja on Saturday (28 February).

Rita revealed that one of the three additional witnesses is a close family member of the victim. Two others are acquaintances of the four witnesses who were previously examined at Bantul Police District.

“So the three additional witnesses include the victim’s wife and two acquaintances of the victim,” she said.

The role of the two acquaintances, according to Rita, was being friends who had visited the victim’s home on the evening of Tuesday (24 February).

“These two were acquaintances of the victim who gathered at the victim’s home the night before the incident. So there were six people who gathered at the victim’s home before the incident occurred,” she explained.
