Mulialand to build $15m underpass

Mulia Intipelangi, a subsidiary of PT Mulialand Group, will build a US$15 million underpass at the Tomang exchange in West Jakarta.

Joko S. Tjandra, the president of Mulialand, said yesterday that the underpass is expected to help ease traffic congestion in the area.

The construction of the underpass will start later this year and is scheduled for completion in July 1995.

The underpass will be presented to the Jakarta administration upon its completion, making Mulialand the second private company to contribute a major road facility for public use, Tjandra said.

He said that the construction of the underpass will be in line with its Taman Anggrek Condominium project, which will be developed near the Tomang interchange with a total cost of around Rp 700 billion ($350 million).

Tjandra, however, said that the underpass will not only benefit Taman Anggrek residents but also all motorists using the network of roads around Tomang, Slipi and Grogol.

He said that the Taman Anggrek Condominium will be the tallest residential area in Indonesia, with eight towers of 45 stories. The towers will have a total of 2,824 apartments.

Beneath the apartment towers will be Taman Anggrek Mall, a modern shopping center. (hen)
