Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah hopes that the search process for journalists and crew members lost at sea near the Mount Anak Krakatau area while covering the eruption will soon yield results through the various efforts undertaken by rescue teams.

The General Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, speaking in Yogyakarta on Saturday, expressed appreciation to all parties and authorities who continue the search into its fifth day.

“We appreciate all parties and authorities who are still searching until now. We encourage and pray that they can be found soon,” he said.

On this occasion, Ha него expressed hope that the rescue team could utilise various routes as well as equipment and technology to support the search process, ensuring that all journalists and crew members are located.

“Use various routes, and use technology if necessary that can detect the disappearance of these citizens,” said Haedar.

He noted that Muhammadiyah shares the profound concern regarding the disaster at Mount Anak Krakatau and other unpredictable disasters in Indonesia.

“I believe (the search) also requires cooperation with the community, so that a discovery can be made quickly,” he said.

Muhammadiyah is calling on the entire community to unite their potential to build resilience, implement mitigation, and increase vigilance against potential disasters in their respective regions by adhering to advisories from relevant agencies.

“The levels provided by the government are essentially limits. However, vigilance is a responsibility that belongs to us all,” he stated.

He urged all residents living in disaster-prone areas, particularly around volcanoes, to remain vigilant and not ignore danger warnings.

“Therefore, do not ignore volcanic eruptions; even if we are locals, or young people who are used to climbing mountains, please exercise restraint,” said Haedar.
