PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operating Division (Daop) 1 Jakarta has advised passengers that mudik train tickets can still be cancelled and rescheduled before departure, subject to specific conditions.

The company strongly recommends that passengers use the Access by KAI application to process cancellations or reschedule changes, as it is more practical and efficient, particularly during the Eid holiday travel period.

“We recommend passengers conduct cancellations or rescheduling through the Access by KAI application to make it easier and avoid having to queue at stations. Please also ensure that the submission deadline is observed so as not to exceed the applicable regulations,” said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta’s Public Relations Manager, Franoto Wibowo, in an official statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.

CANCELLATION REQUIREMENTS

Passengers must present original identification matching the data on the ticket. If using a representative, a notarised letter of authorisation, photocopies of the authoriser’s and authorised representative’s identification, and the original identity card of the ticket owner must be provided.

Cancellations can be processed through the Access by KAI application (recommended for ease), Loketbox machines, or cancellation counters at stations.

A 25 per cent deduction from the ticket price (excluding booking fees) applies, rounded up to the nearest Rp1,000. Refunds amount to 75 per cent of the ticket price.

Refunds from the application and Loketbox are transferred to the passenger’s account or e-wallet. Through station counters, funds can be transferred to an account or withdrawn in cash at the station. The refund process takes approximately seven days.

RESCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

Rescheduling through the application can be done at the latest two hours before departure. If this deadline is missed, changes can still be made at station counters up to one hour before departure.

Changes can only be requested by the relevant passenger and only if seats on the new schedule are still available.

Passengers can change their seat, date, departure time, or switch to another train as needed.

A 25 per cent fee applies based on the ticket price (excluding booking fees), rounded up to Rp1,000. If the new ticket price is higher, the difference must be paid. If cheaper, the difference is not refunded.

INFANT TICKETS

Infant tickets are free of charge but do not include a separate seat, and the child will be held by a guardian throughout the journey.

Infant ticket reservations can be made when purchasing tickets through the Access by KAI application or at station counters on the day of departure before the journey commences.

“KAI Daop 1 Jakarta invites the public to plan their mudik travel carefully and ensure they understand all applicable regulations so that the Eid holiday travel is safe, comfortable, and smooth,” Franoto explained.

For further information, passengers can contact KAI’s Contact Centre on 121 or via email at cs@kai.id.
