MPR Deputy Speaker Eddy Soeparno of the PAN faction has expressed support for the initiative to draft the One Data Indonesia Bill. The bill is currently part of the 2026 National Legislation Programme (Prolegnas) priority.

Eddy stated that a strong legal framework for national data integration is a crucial step towards more effective, transparent governance that prioritises those in genuine need. Previously, the urgency of the One Data Bill was highlighted by DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

“We have long faced challenges with inconsistent data across agencies, which can cause assistance and subsidy programmes to operate suboptimally. Therefore, I fully support drafting the One Data Indonesia Bill to ensure the country has a single, accurate, integrated, and accountable data reference,” Eddy said in a written statement on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Eddy assessed that the One Data Indonesia Law would serve as a key instrument to ensure state-funded energy subsidies reach the rightful recipients.

“The bill can provide a strong legal basis to ensure energy subsidies, for both fuel and LPG, are accurately targeted. With integrated and regularly updated data, the government will more easily identify eligible beneficiaries and close existing loopholes for misuse,” he explained.

Furthermore, the PAN politician stressed that national data integration would also strengthen the effectiveness of the government’s priority social protection programmes.

“Alongside energy subsidies, a single national data system would ensure social assistance reaches those in need. This is vital to minimise budget leaks, reduce duplicate beneficiaries, and guarantee every public rupiah benefits the people,” he added.

According to the DPR member of Commission XII, improving data quality is a fundamental foundation for effective public policy. Therefore, he hopes the One Data Indonesia Bill’s deliberation will be comprehensive while addressing personal data protection and public information security.

“When government data is well-integrated, policy-making quality improves. Ultimately, the people benefit as subsidy, social assistance, and public service programmes become more accurate, efficient, and equitable,” Eddy concluded.
