MPR Deputy Chairman on WFH after Eid: The Wheels of the Economy Must Not Slow Down
MPR Deputy Chairman Eddy Soeparno supports the policy of employees working from home, or work from home (WFH), after Eid al-Fitr. He reminds that WFH must not hinder economic movement.
He assesses that WFH can encourage reduced mobility and fuel savings.
“This policy saves national fuel consumption due to decreased public mobility,” said Eddy on Monday (23/3).
He believes that if schoolchildren are also included, public mobility will decrease further, thus saving even more national fuel.
However, he warns the government to continue monitoring the movement of the economy’s wheels. Because reduced mobility can diminish circulation.
He states that for the industrial and manufacturing sectors, they should continue operating amid energy savings. Because these sectors drive the economy’s wheels.
“The wheels of the economy must not slow down, especially the industrial and manufacturing sectors must continue to operate,” said Eddy.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, on Saturday (21/3), ensured that the WFH policy will begin to be implemented after Eid, as an effort to save energy amid rising world oil prices.
Airlangga stated that this policy applies to Civil Servants (ASN) and is also urged for the private sector. He also conveyed that WFH will only apply for one day per week.
This WFH policy, said Airlangga, also considers the situation of conflict in the Middle East which has the potential to disrupt world energy supplies.
