MPR Chairman Unaware of Lawsuit Against Four Pillars Quiz Competition
MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani has claimed he was unaware of a lawsuit filed against the organisation of the Four Pillars Quiz Competition (LCC) in West Kalimantan.
According to him, the MPR has not received any information regarding the lawsuit. As such, the institution is unable to provide a specific statement, including any follow-up actions on the lawsuit.
“We will examine the lawsuit, what is being sued, and what the main issues are,” Muzani said at the Nusantara III Building, Senayan, on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.
Meanwhile, MPR Secretary General Siti Fauziah also admitted she had only recently learned of the lawsuit stemming from the controversy over the LCC Four Pillars event in West Kalimantan. “We have just been informed. So, we will study it first,” she said.
However, she explained that based on statements from the judging panel at the LCC Four Pillars in West Kalimantan, the controversy arose due to technical difficulties. “It might be technical issues with sound and others; we will evaluate that,” she said.
The lawsuit against the MPR’s LCC Four Pillars event in West Kalimantan was filed by an advocate and lecturer named David Tobing.
David stated that the lawsuit has been registered at the Central Jakarta District Court with registration number JKT.PST-12052026HYC, dated 12 May 2026. The defendants include the MPR, the judging panel, and the host.
David accused the defendants of committing unlawful acts by justifying incorrect actions in public during the competition held on 9 May 2026.
“The judge is requested to order the MPR to dismiss two judges from MPR employment and to punish the judges and host to apologise in front of all students and teachers at SMAN 1 Pontianak,” he said when contacted on Wednesday.
The controversy over the LCC Four Pillars in West Kalimantan began when three finalists—SMAN 1 Pontianak, SMAN 1 Sambas, and SMAN 1 Sanggau—competed to answer the question: “In selecting BPK members, the DPR must consider input from which institution?”
Team C from SMAN 1 Pontianak answered first, stating that BPK members are selected by the DPR considering DPD input and inaugurated by the President.
Judge Dyastasita deemed the answer insufficiently precise and awarded minus 5 points. Dyastasita is the Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR Secretariat General.
The same question was then posed again to the forum, and Team B, SMAN 1 Sambas, took the opportunity to answer that BPK members are selected by the DPR considering DPD input and inaugurated by the President.
The judges ruled this answer correct and awarded SMAN 1 Sambas 10 points. This prompted protests from participants from SMAN 1 Pontianak, who had answered first with the same response.
However, the judges reasoned that SMAN 1 Pontianak did not mention the words “DPD consideration.” This reasoning was contested by Team C participants.
