A single-vehicle traffic accident occurred on the main Singaraja-Gerokgak highway at kilometre 22.5 in Umeanyar Village, Seririt District, Buleleng Regency, on Sunday 8 March 2026 at approximately 12:00 local time. The incident resulted in the death of a motorcycle passenger.

The deceased victim, identified as Mistiyah, aged 51, was a resident of Banjar Dinas Celukan Bawang, Gerokgak District. The passenger was transported to Seririt Medical Centre but was pronounced dead upon arrival due to severe internal injuries sustained in the accident.

The motorcycle driver, Lali Rahmah, aged 57, sustained abrasions to the right knee and received medical treatment at the same hospital.

The Head of Public Relations at Buleleng Police, Inspector Yohana Rosalin Diaz, with the authorisation of the Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Ruzi Gusman, explained that the accident was a single-vehicle collision allegedly caused by the driver failing to notice the road’s pothole condition. “The Honda Scoopy motorcycle, registered DK 3707 GAA, was travelling from west to east. As it passed through the accident location, the driver allegedly did not notice the pothole, causing the vehicle to lose balance and overturn,” Yohana stated on Monday 9 March 2026.

The case is currently being handled by the Traffic Unit of Seririt Police Station and will subsequently be transferred to the Traffic Division of Buleleng Police for further investigation.

Police have urged motorists to exercise greater caution and pay attention to road conditions, particularly when travelling on routes prone to damage, in order to prevent similar accidents. “We remind the public to always ensure they have proper riding equipment, comply with traffic regulations, and remain vigilant regarding road conditions for the sake of public safety,” Yohana concluded.
