A woman identified by the initial A (57) in Sindon Village, Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency, Central Java, died after eating chicken satay sent by her son-in-law. The satay was laced with rat poison.

The Boyolali Police have taken the suspect into custody. Boyolali Police Chief AKBP Indra Maulana Saputra stated on Monday that the status of PW, previously a witness, had been elevated to suspect in the case of A’s death after consuming the chicken satay.

Suspect PW has been arrested and detained at the Boyolali Police detention centre. “Alhamdulillah, we have arrested the perpetrator and he is currently undergoing examination as a suspect,” he said.

During the examination, PW admitted to buying chicken satay and mixing it with rat poison before sending it to the victim, who was his own mother-in-law. A died after consuming the satay sent by PW (40), her son-in-law.

Boyolali Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Indrawan Wira Saputra said the results of the exhumation and autopsy conducted by the Central Java Regional Police’s Medical and Health Division were released on 2 June 2026. “The autopsy results and forensic laboratory results were issued on 2 June. During the exhumation, food residue was found in the victim’s stomach: rice cake, poultry meat, peanuts and chilli. So the satay was consumed by the victim,” he said.

PW sent the chicken satay to the victim on Monday, 18 May 2026, at 6.16 p.m. local time via a GoSend application. PW placed the order using the account of the victim’s second child. PW also instructed the online motorcycle taxi driver to tell the victim that the satay was a delivery from her second child. “It is known that prior to this incident, PW had never sent food to the victim,” he said.

A’s death was discovered after her second child, who usually leaves their child in A’s care, noticed the lights at their parents’ house were still on. The child called out to their mother but received no answer. After repeatedly calling without response, the victim’s child sought help from neighbours.

The victim’s older sibling, Widodo (61), said the house door was eventually forced open by local residents to check conditions inside. “Initially, I received information from a neighbour to check on my sibling’s condition. At that time, the victim was found inside the house lying on her back,” he said. The victim was found lifeless.
