Indonesia and Japan have agreed to cooperation on critical minerals and nuclear energy during a bilateral meeting held on Sunday at the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Ministerial and Business Forum (IPEM) in Tokyo. The two nations signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) covering these two strategic sectors.
Indonesia’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stressed that the cooperation will strengthen more integrated and sustainable energy systems. The agreement was formalised during high-level discussions on the sidelines of the regional energy security forum.
This development reflects Indonesia’s commitment to diversifying its energy partnerships and securing critical mineral supplies whilst advancing nuclear energy cooperation with Japan, a technologically advanced partner in the region.
