The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that 114 homes were damaged due to ground movement in Bantargadung Village and Bojonggaling, Bantargadung District, Sukabumi Regency. The ground movement was triggered by heavy rainfall since Wednesday, 4 March 2026.

As of Friday, 6 March 2026, BNPB data shows 70 homes severely damaged, 26 moderately damaged, and 18 lightly damaged, with 9 homes threatened. In addition, 475 people were affected, of which 407 have evacuated to safer locations.

Damage also occurred to one school facility and access roads were affected. Abdul Muhari, Head of BNPB’s Data, Information and Disaster Communication Center, said the Regent of Sukabumi has established the Disaster Ground Movement Emergency Status. “The decree is valid for seven days from 4 to 10 March 2026. This status aims to speed up emergency response and facilitate information access across agencies,” he said on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

He added that BPBD Sukabumi and West Java Province are conducting rapid assessments and in-depth data collection at the scene. An emergency response post has been established to coordinate aid and services for survivors. Abdul Muhari noted that a joint team comprising regional agencies, volunteers and the community is working to meet basic needs of evacuees, especially logistics for the communal kitchen, clean water, supplies for babies and the elderly, and sleeping equipment.

“BNPB urges residents in landslide-prone areas to stay vigilant, especially during prolonged rainfall,” he said. “Also, follow evacuation instructions from local personnel to avoid loss of life.”
