More garbage in New Year

JAKARTA (JP): The city sanitary agency is bracing itself for
the 6,000 cubic meters of garbage it expects to be dumped by
Jakartans on New Year's Eve.

The head of the agency, M. Subasir, said yesterday that his
office will deploy 2,996 personnel and 308 garbage trucks to
clean the city after the year-end festivities.

Subasir said that his teams will be located at Monas and on
Jl. Thamrin in Central Jakarta, at Ancol and on Jl. Martadinata
in North Jakarta, on Jl. Mangga Besar Raya, Jl. Gajah Mada and
Jl. Hayam Wuruk in Central Jakarta, Blok M and Jl. Trunojoyo in
South Jakarta and on Jl. Pondok Gede, Jl. Urip Sumoharjo, Jl.
Sentra Primer and Jl. Jatinegara Barat in East Jakarta. (yns)
