More archeologists needed

MEDAN, North Sumatra: The province, home to many cultural and archaeological legacies dating back centuries, has only one archaeologist, two technicians, and one draftsman, Antara reported yesterday.

Sri Hartini, the head of the province's state museum, was quoted by the news agency as saying the shortage of experts makes conservation difficult.

She said that for the museum to perform its task well, at least two more archaeologists and four technicians had to be hired. She said the region still has plenty of archaeological findings requiring further study and research.

The museum is currently overseeing the renovation of two temples. (swe)
