Moment When Prabowo Has Lunch with the Japanese Emperor, Didit Accompanies Him
President Prabowo Subianto enjoyed a state luncheon with Japanese Emperor Naruhito during his first official visit to Japan. Prabowo’s son, Didit Hediprasetyo, accompanied him.
The state luncheon took place at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Monday (30/3/2026) at 12.17 local time.
Observations from detikcom indicate that the luncheon was held in a room within the palace. The room’s architecture was predominantly wooden with Japanese-style sliding doors.
The Emperor invited Prabowo to enter the room. The Emperor and Prabowo then walked together to the luncheon area, which featured a large oval table in the centre of the room.
Prabowo was seen bringing the Indonesian delegation, namely Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Warm conversations emerged from the room, starting with Prabowo admiring the view in front of him.
“I want to drink coffee with this-, ha-ha-ha,” Prabowo said to the Emperor beside him.
The view in front of Prabowo was a expanse of garden with various flowers. There were also bonsai trees, which are reportedly enjoyed only by the Emperor as outsiders are prohibited from taking photos. Prabowo appeared to appreciate the beauty of the atmosphere.
One Japanese delegate spoke in Indonesian, namely Director General of the Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miyamoto Shingo. Prabowo was surprised to hear it.
“You can speak Indonesian? Ha-ha-ha. Where did you learn it?” Prabowo said while laughing.
Throughout the luncheon, Prabowo was seen smiling several times, reflecting a comfortable atmosphere and even expressing his admiration for the garden view.
It is known that Prabowo carried out several activities during his first official visit to Japan. Prabowo is scheduled to attend a Business Forum at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.
Prabowo will also meet Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo the following day. This meeting is expected to be a strategic momentum to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including investment, energy, maritime affairs, and digital.
