Hundreds of students who are members of the West Java OSIS Forum (FOJB) visited the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta through the ‘Palace for Schoolchildren’ programme. President Prabowo Subianto personally met the students, shaking hands with them and taking photos together.

According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat Office on Tuesday (5/5/2026), this weekly routine activity began with a briefing in the Hoegeng Auditorium of the Cabinet Secretariat building. The students received material on the government system as well as direct motivation from Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The students were not only invited to understand the government structure but also encouraged to dare to dream and contribute to the nation. One student, who is also the General Chair of the West Java OSIS Forum, Salsabila Nuria Muharam, was impressed with the material presented.

“It was really exciting, like it can’t be described. Mr Teddy also gave us motivation because students still feel afraid to reach the finish line. Mr Teddy said that life is only once, so make it meaningful, don’t waste opportunities, that’s what I heard from Mr Teddy,” she said.

On that occasion, Teddy called Prabowo to give the students a chance to speak directly with Prabowo via phone connection. Oryza, a student from SMA Negeri 2 Sukatani, North Cikarang, got the opportunity to chat directly with Prabowo.

“I just chatted with the President, asking what time we were going to the Merdeka Palace. Then he joked, don’t take too long, because I’m going there. Then suddenly the President asked Mr Teddy, what time is it actually, Mr Teddy? Then I answered half past one, around half past two for about a dozen. Then he said, alright, you can join me entering, so we’ll meet later,” she recounted.

After the briefing, the participants were taken on a tour of the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta, starting from the Merdeka Palace, the President’s office, to the State Palace. They witnessed various rooms that have long been witnesses to important national decision-making, while also understanding the government process.

A special moment occurred again when Prabowo arrived at the Merdeka Palace. Prabowo’s arrival was warmly welcomed by the students with applause and enthusiastic waves.

Prabowo then got out of the vehicle and approached the students, greeting and shaking hands directly. The atmosphere became even warmer when the students simultaneously sang a welcome song. After the welcoming, all the students lined up neatly to capture the moment through a group photo session with Prabowo.
